Night In Essentials

As much as I love going out with my closest and friends and getting absolutely "mortal", (though I really can't hack the hangovers anymore), there's nothing I love more than spending a relaxing night in with my favourite films, foods and pampering supplies. I will admit that this post was entirely influenced by the above bath bomb as it's one of the most spectacular things I've ever seen. Seriously, I felt like I was bathing in something out of Star Trek, live long and prosper and all that.

A hot bubble bath. Whether you use a fancy bath bomb from Lush or a splash of bubble bath (or a lot, I like a lot), there's nothing more relaxing than having a long soak in a hot tub. Light a few candles around the edge and take your favourite book with you. Boom, instant relaxation. One of my current favourite bath products is the Intergalactic bath bomb from Lush and I can honestly say this is very true to description. I felt like I was bathing in the cosmos in a sea of blue, purple and glitter.

Takeaway. No night in is complete for me without some sort of takeaway or indulgent meal. If I'm sticking to homemade I'll opt for a massive bowl of spaghetti bolognese smothered in extra mature cheddar. My takeaway of choice is Indian, a chicken tikka Rogan Josh with pilau rice, garlic naan and poppadoms goes down an absolute treat with me.

Television boxset or a film. If I'm not binge watching a new TV series then a night in film for me just has to be a horror. My personal favourite is Sinister, it's been a long time since a film has shaken me up like this one did. It also gives you the perfect excuse to snuggle up in loads of blankets with a cuddly toy or pet.

A bottle of wine. The perfect compliment to a takeaway right? An alternative could be hot chocolate or tea but when I'm pampering myself I like to go all out. And by all out I mean a £5 bottle of rose from the nearest supermarket.

Candles, blankets and onesies. Candles and fairylights create the perfect night in ambience and coupled with a multitude of blankets and cushions you can create the most relaxing, chilled out atmosphere. As soon as it gets colder I also like to breakout the onesie collection, my favourites being a red fairisle number from Primark and a ditsy floral print from Boohoo.

Pamper yourself. You might as well go the full hog and break out all your pamper goodies, whether that be skincare or otherwise. After my bath I like to moisturise from top to bottom with The Body Shop Cocoa Body Butter  and treat my hair to a deep condition or hair mask.

What are some of your night in essentials?

  1. Definitely a bit of pampering, takeaway and a film. That Lush bath bomb is my favourite at the moment too - so glittery!

  2. Haha I love this post, especially the £5 rose comment - how is it that a bottle of cheap wine, when drunk from a wine glass curled up in your own house, can feel like the height of luxury?! New follower here just for that comment alone! xxx

  3. Love this post!! I have a quiet night in almost every other weekend. I too can no longer hack the hangovers. Chinese and a good netflix binge with a glass of wine is my ideal night in!!! x

  6. Nothing beats a night in! Especially listening to the rain outside and thinking you could be stuck out in it in a skimpy outfit, I'd much rather have my duvet and a good film!
    Great post :)

    1. It just started tipping it down in Manchester so I'm pretty glad to be sat inside with a candle lit right now.

  7. Nothing is better for the week than a good night in. Pampering myself is what I usually do coz it gives me enough time to just focus on myself.
