Home Touches with Cox & Cox*

You might recall a post I wrote back in February in which I shared a few of the homeware bits on my wishlist and the things I want to buy in order to make my room in Manchester more of a home. Well since that post, I've slowly been picking up bits and pieces when I can afford them in order to add little finishing touches to my bedroom. I was also lucky enough to be gifted a couple of pieces from Cox & Cox, carry on reading to hear all about them!

Making A House A Home

Some of you may be aware that in September of 2016, I moved out of my family home and into a flat in Manchester. And though I'm totally settled in now and I have brought a lot of little bits and pieces with me that made it feel like home, there's still lots I want to get for the room to feel complete. Some more practical bits and others more decorative but it's all of these combined that really help to make a space more homely and comfortable.

Debenhams Christmas in July Show

I love Christmas. Like, a lot. And though we may only be coming to the end of August, there's nothing more exciting to me than the idea of seeing all the A/W and Christmas releases in the middle of July and this is exactly what happened at the latest Debenhams Press Show. I was flattered again to be invited down to London by Vanessa and the rest of the team to another beautiful event held in a stunning townhouse in Fitzroy Square, full of fashion, accessories, homeware, gifts and my personal favourite, makeup.

Summer Homeware Haul with Ocean

Over the last month I was lucky enough to be asked to get involved with Ocean's Summer Homeware Haul, a project aimed at bringing a little needed TLC to homes over the Summer months. This season has brought with it a whole load of new trends, prints and accessories perfect for sprucing up any living space and since moving back in with my parents after living at university for three years, it was about time I injected a little more life into my unloved bedroom. As all my walls and furniture are white, I find it really easy to switch up the overall look of my bedroom by just switching up a few of the accessories I have dotted around and I decided to go from pink Spring florals to more of a bright Summer look with mismatched prints and loads of colour.

Debenhams AW16 Home & Fashion Press Show

Prepare yourselves for a very image heavy post. I know I've said this numerous times before but this time, I really mean it. I was lucky enough to be invited to the Debenhams AW16 Home & Fashion Press Day in London this Thursday and though I had the last hand in of my university life the day after, I couldn't miss out on such an exciting opportunity. A huge thank you to Vanessa and everyone at Debenhams for putting on such an incredible event, the collections, venue and entire set up was just beautiful. Honestly, I've left with a shopping list as long as my arm and interior design goals for a house I won't have for at least another 5 years.

September Homeware Wishlist

Like everyone and their mother these days, I have truly jumped on the copper and marble bandwagon. This is a trend that just seems to be everywhere and I can completely see why, there's something really beautiful about these two and they make for chic additions to any interior space. I've also got a massive love for anything pastel blue or pink, monochrome and geometric. Despite being a few years off moving out and having my own place, I could spend hours swooning over furniture and homeware and this seems to have got even worse recently. I've probably spent way too much time recently drooling over anything from candles to storage baskets. So in the meantime I've decided to share with you my wishlist, including products from Etsy, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Sass & Belle and Oliver Bonas. Some are definitely on the pricey side and will most likely remain on the wishlist but hey, a girl can dream right?

September Baking

I don't know whether it's the latest series of Great British Bake Off or a general craving for sweet food recently but something has me in the mood to bake. So much so that on a recent trip to Asda for cans of Coca-Cola, I ended up leaving with fifty pounds worth of baking equipment. (Woops!) The George Home section at Asda currently has a beautiful selection of baking goods in an array of pretty pastel shades, from pretty pink mixing bowls to adorable ceramic measuring cups decorated with little cakes. It's a good job I have some self restraint or I really could have ended up spending hundreds. I also found myself picking up Mary Berry's Baking Bible, mainly because that woman is just an absolute queen and I wish she would adopt me but also because it's a really wonderful baking book. There's a great selection of recipes across bread, cupcakes, tray bakes, pastry, etc etc. There really is a little something for everyone and I also like how she included the basics which can then be really easily spruced up and changed about.

Bedroom Tour

What better way to start off my blog than with an insight into my bedroom, the room in which I spend the majority of my time. This is my favourite kind of post to read on other blogs and see in videos, so it's pretty fitting really. Rather than show you every single item and detail in my bedroom I've opted to pick out a few of my favourite decorative pieces. The room itself is a slight off white colour, with white and wooden fixtures and fittings. I wanted a colour scheme that would enable me to easily chop and change the different accessories and other colours within the room... currently everything is very floral, pink and feminine but this could be quickly changed with new textiles, decorations and ornaments. The white walls also help to keep the room really light and airy, something that wasn't often possible when the walls were dark purple. But the fairylights and soft colours, along with the occasional candle, still keep the room feeling really lovely and cosy. I'll also tell you details of where you can buy any of the bits in these photographs too, at least where I can remember them, just in case you fancy getting them yourself.
