Despite using and owning a multitude of different brushes, I actually found it very easy to pick just five brushes that I couldn't live without. Firstly I can completely go without eye brushes. I don't really wear eyeshadow on a day to day basis anyway and I've found that hands can be your greatest tools. Though if I were to pick one it would be some sort of fluffy blending brush, Zoeva have some wonderful ones. Anyway, these are the brushes that I always return to and most have some sort of multipurpose aspect to them.
The Base | Zoeva Silk Finish Brush
This brush creates a beautifully flawless finish by really working and buffing the foundation into my skin. If there's anything I hate it's the feeling of having foundation sit on top of the skin, this brush helps make my face feel makeup free. I also use this to work the concealer in under my eyes and over any problem areas. (Because I like to reduce the amount of washing as much as possible.) It's very similar to the Real Techniques Buffing Brush but for me is that little bit softer.
Bronzer | Zoeva Powder Brush
Though probably not the best brush for contouring or creating definition around the cheekbones, I find this brush the perfect size and shape for creating a natural bronzed look around the face, temples and jaw line. The Zoeva brushes are wonderful value for money, so incredibly soft and great to work with. I also like to use a big fluffy brush like this to blend out any intense blusher mistakes.
Powder | Real Techniques Blush Brush
I would normally use this for blush but recently I've found this the perfect size and shape for setting the areas I've used concealer on, especially around my eye area, chin and forehead where I tend to get oilier and lose my makeup over the day. I'm all for multi purpose products and this can be used across the board. I do like the Real Techniques powder brush but I do find that it is a little large for setting areas like under my eyes.
Eyebrows | Anastasia Beverly Hills Duo Brow Brush
Ideal for use with the dipbrow pomade. I use the brush end to create fuller, thicker brows and the other to spread the colour evenly throughout the brows as well as brushing the hairs neatly into place. Other than this brush I also really enjoy using the Zoeva angled liner brush for powder in my brows.
Blush | Zoeva Luxe Cheek Finish
Not only are these rose gold and powder pink brushes absolutely beautiful, they work a treat. This one sits perfectly on the apples of the cheeks to create a pretty flushed look. Works wonderfully with any powder blush and feels super soft on the cheeks. The Luxe Sheer Cheek is also a wonderful choice
Those are my top 5. What brushes can't you live without?
Pretty much all my favourites are Zoeva or RT too haha! I use Zoeva's Silk Finish and the RT Blush Brush pretty much every day :) xx

Put them on your Christmas list, you won't be disappointed!

I also love using the blush brush from RT as my powder brush. I actually don't think it works too well as a blush brush, but it's perfect for setting my foundation with powder! ;)

I totally agree, I haven't used it for blush in a long long time!

Have you used any of the E.L.F. brushes? Their studio line (the all black ones) have some gems! I loveeee Real Techniques brushes, and have heard fabulous things about the Zoeva ones. Thanks for giving me some recommendations to check out! :)

I've not tried anything from Elf yet, I hear they're wonderful and so affordable as well. Thanks for the tip! x
DeleteI own none of these brushes! I'm a terrible blogger not owning any zoeva brushes hahah. The Anastasia one looks so precise for eyebrows and even eyeliner, may have to invest in that... and maybe a zoeva set finally! Are the base/face brushes part of a set too?
ReplyDeleteBecky // Colourful Sins
Yep! The Rose Gold sets come with a couple of base brushes, I'd personally opt for the black and rose gold set as you get the Silk Finish buffing brush, bronzer brush, concealer buffer, blush brush and a nice selection of eye brushes. x
DeleteIf you're into powder or pomade products I would definitely recommend getting one, they're a life saver!

I have heart a lot of good things about Real Techniques brushes & I have been meaning to try them. The Zoeva brushes look so nice, but I'm not sure if they are available in the US. I personally have been using the same Sigma Brushes for years & I love them!
