Cape Coral, Florida | Photo Diary

I just want to start this post by saying that I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and a Happy New Year! I was lucky enough to celebrate my Christmas by jetting over to Florida for the most glorious two weeks. We flew out on the 16th and it was fourteen wonderful days of 28 degree temperatures, relaxing by the pool, exploring, boating, dolphin spotting and completely indulging in an amazing array of food. (I tried the American classic of biscuits and gravy and was pleasantly surprised at just how tasty it was, the gravy especially). I'm going to use this post to share my photos from the trip with you, as well as a few snippets about what we did, saw and ate etc but mostly, be prepared for pictures upon pictures. Oh and stay on the lookout for a US beauty haul and loads of reviews coming over the next few weeks, I picked up some proper goodies.

One of the best parts about staying in Cape Coral is the ease of access to the sea. Most houses back onto winding canals that eventually take you out to open water and to various different islands you can stop at. There's also nearly always a dolphin or two swimming about. One of my favourite places to stop was Sanibel Island where we had a delicious meal of fish or chicken and crisps (or chips if you're American) at Gramma Dot's, this really cute little blue and white building right by the water. The dill mayonnaise dip was particularly tasty. If by any chance you ever happen to be in the area, I highly recommend going here for the friendly atmosphere and staff, views and tasty food, especially if you're a fan of seafood. 

Another area we visited was the island of Matlacha, the manager of the villa we were staying in recommended this to us and it did not disappoint. It's an incredibly vibrant, creative and colourful neighbourhood with little art galleries and trinket shops dotted along the main street. The one gallery we spent a lot of time looking around, particularly the garden area was the Leoma Lovegrove gallery. Everywhere you look there was something new, bright paintings, sculptures and designs all in super vibrant colours with a proper hippie 60s positive vibe and despite the bright colours it feels incredibly peaceful. There's a massive Beatles and John Lennon influence here due to the artist having painted a series to go in Liverpool itself. Definitely somewhere worth a visit whether you're interested in art or not, my whole family enjoyed it.
