"On Wednesdays We Wear Pink"

It's officially Spring here in the UK and though that would normally bring to mind images of bunny rabbits, daffodils and sunshine, it appears that we have been blessed with nothing but rain, hail and storms. I guess there's a reason they call them April Showers! But just because the world around me isn't exactly screaming Spring, doesn't mean my makeup can't and for me no other colour gets as much wear at this time of year as a good old pink. Whether it be on my lips, eyes, cheeks or nails, pink for me just screams Spring. It's the perfect transition shade between the Winter reds and Summer corals and there really is a pink for everyone, whether you want to go full on bubblegum Barbie, pastel or muted baby pink.

Though I think the easiest way to wear pink is in a blush on the cheeks, my favourite way to wear it is on the lips. A pink lip adds a really pretty feminine pop of colour to the face and can also be paired with pretty much most makeup looks depending on the type of pink and whether it's blue or red based, warm or cool. Usually I like to mix a couple of my liquid lipsticks together to achieve the perfect shade but for an easier go-to look the two I will usually go for are Mac's Impassioned and Chatterbox. Both are an amplified finish, meaning they give incredible bright pigmentation with a slightly creamy finish that never feels drying on the lips. Impassioned is definitely the brighter of the two, the perfect hot pink shade that can be taken through from day to night. Chatterbox is a little more muted while still standing out and the undertones are a lot more on the blue side. I love this shade for daytime wear and for adding a pretty pop of colour to my work makeup.

Of course, one of the easiest ways to wear pink is by simply adding a touch with your blusher. You can add a touch for a more natural flush to the cheeks, or build it up as you desire. A pink blush is generally my go to colour all year around apart from the Summer when peach and coral shades make a bit more of a comeback. This Sleek blusher in Flamingo looks massively intimidating in the pan and when swatched but when applied carefully to the cheeks it adds a really pretty subtle pop of colour and works really nicely with a cool toned makeup look. Another two I've recently dug out of my collection are two by Mac, Fleur Power (post here) is a really soft pink that's incredibly pigmented and perfect for those with a fairer skin tone to create those pretty rosy cheeks. Whole Lotta Love is a lot more intense and definitely one that needs any excess tapping off in order to avoid overly bright cheeks. It's a gorgeous cool bright pink, I love it for Winter but it can easily transition through to Spring.

I find wearing pink on my eyes the hardest, in fact I haven't reached for my Naked 3 palette in months *slaps own wrist*. I just find that you can end up looking ill if you're not too careful but a pop of bright pink or a sprinkle of something light in the inner corner is perfect. The two I've pulled out here are Cupcake and Cinderella (post here). Cupcake is a creamy matte shade that I like to use a base with deeper pinks, cranberries and purples over the top and Cinderella I tend to keep towards the inner corner and lid.

And finally the nails. My current obsession has been the shade Peach Daiquiri by Essie, it's a really vibrant coral pink shade, perfect for the Summer and let me tell you, this just pops against a tan. The perfect pop of colour for all black ensemble for a night on the tiles. Lovie Dovie is great for those of you who might be a little more afraid of going too bright, it's a flamingo bubblegum shade without being too over the top and will see you right through to the Summer months.

Chatterbox, Lovie Dovie, Fleur Power, Whole Lotta Love, Flamingo.

  4. These are all gorgeous! Sleek blushes are amazing, and such good quality for money. I'm loving the look of Impassioned for a brighter lip choice! I have to agree on the Naked 3 palette, it's gorgeous but I think you sometimes need a very specific outfit to wear such a pink glittery eye-look xx
