The False Lashes Showdown

I'm a serial false lash wearer. I've tried to go without but I just can't, my real lashes just look terrible in comparison. And as a serial lash wearer, I am constantly on the hunt for a good set of lashes at a reasonable price, I want something that adds volume and length while still looking somewhat "natural" or as natural as they can look while still being ridiculously long. Hopefully those of you who wear lashes or are looking into trying falsies will find this helpful and maybe discover some new ones to try. All are high street prices, I've seen gorgeous lashes for £25 but would I really spend that much on something I might just rip off drunk at the end of the night and drop in my cheesy chips? No, not really.

Eyelure | Exaggerate No 143: Eyelure are the one brand I will always come back to. They have dozens of different styles for multiple purposes, whether you're after volume, length, something really dramatic or all three. Until recently I always wore the 100s for day to day wear (still a favourite for me) and something a little more dramatic for the evening but recently I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I saw this pair online and was immediately drawn to the fluttery natural look of them, despite being part of the exaggerate line, I think they actually work nicely as a good every day pair of lashes. They provide plenty of volume without being too long. My only issue with these is the thick band. The first time I tried to apply these I gave up trying to work with them as I found the band inflexible but after a couple of wears I did find this loosened up and was easier to work with. I do think they would still benefit from a thinner band.

Ardell | Demi Wispies: I've seen so many beauty gurus and bloggers raving about the demi wispies but I just can't get along with them. Maybe it's the length of them or the shape of my eyes, but they just don't work. Obviously these may well work for you but I find for me they go far too short towards the inner corner and end too soon. I think for me they could benefit from being a little longer, at least then they could be trimmed for those with smaller eyes. They do however have a really pretty natural finish for day to day wear.

Red Cherry | 523 & 415: I ordered these two sets of lashes from Amazon after a recommendation from a friend and I will never look back. Though these are two different sets of lashes I personally can't tell much of a difference between the two. In fact, I've probably worn mismatched lashes when they've just been left on the side and I couldn't see a difference. These are 100% human hair and though this may be off putting for some people, as a wearer of hair extensions it's not really something that bothers me and if anything I think it makes these look even more natural. I've never had as many compliments on my lashes as I have when wearing these. Yes, they are ridiculously long and add masses of volume too but they just work. They're on a really nice thin band so they're really easy to work with and blend beautifully with my natural lashes. Plus, they're about £3 a pair, an absolute bargain compared with the likes of Eyelure. Just an all round winner! They also have a fab range to choose from, with some a bit more natural, some dramatic and everything inbetween. (I have another order en route that I can review for anyone interested!).

Have you tried any of these lashes? Which are your favourites?

  1. I'd love to try out the Red Cherry lashes. I've got many many pairs of false lashes but I'd never spend lots of money on them. I've bought a lot of false lashes off eBay for cheap and I've never had any problems using those x

  9. I've never been able to apply false lashes but as I haven't attempted it for years I decided to accept a sample of some recently and really surprised myself when I managed to apply them almost perfectly first time! I'm now considering picking up some natural looking ones to wear here and there to keep practising and master it completely as I've always wanted to wear false lashes x
