Matte About Too Faced

Oh I do love a punny title, don't you? Now, I don't know what's happened to me but in the last few months I have officially become an eyeshadow addict. Lip products and blushers used to be my absolute jam but now I find myself drawn to eyeshadows and palettes more than ever before and as a result of this my collection has expanded massively. (Sorry not sorry bank balance). Experimenting with different colours and styles has become a daily occurrence (I still haven't quite picked up the courage to try anything garishly bright, maybe one day!) But one thing I had found lacking from my array of shades was a good selection of mattes.

For the majority of my eye looks I like to start with an all over matte shade to act as a base, I find it helps all the other shadows blend a little better but having a limited supply of colours meant I've generally been sticking to the same colour for every single look, not necessarily ideal when you want something for a pink look and something for a brown smoky eye. I also like to start in my crease with something a little darker and matte as well, even if I'm then going over it with a shimmer, it's almost like laying the groundwork for me. Generally I've stuck with shades like Frappe by Makeup Geek or Creme Brulee but like I said, if I ever want to venture into something pink or not so brown in colour, it can get tricky. That is why I have fallen head over heels for the Natural Matte palette by Too Faced. 

This gorgeous little palette has most of the colours I could ever need for most looks that I use and I've found myself reaching for this more and more since picking it up. First, you get the typical Too Faced packaging, feminine, pretty and most importantly good quality. There is nothing I hate more than paying for a high end in terrible packaging. It comes in a really handy tin complete with mirror and a how to guide. Personally, I wouldn't take this travelling as I feel like I'd then have to take other more shimmery and glittery shades with me as well, taking up space. But for anyone who is purely into matte eye looks, then this is ideal.

The palette comes with three separate "looks" Day, Fashion and Classic with colours that can be used together to create a complete eye look and corresponding tutorials in the leaflet to go along with these. If you're anything like me then you'll completely ignore all of this and just use the different shades as you see fit but I do like that they've done this as it's great for people who maybe aren't as confident with shadows or need a little more guidance.

Now the formula. No matter how many great matte shadows I try, I am always worried that they're going to be incredibly dry, chalky and hard to blend. This is just not the case here. The quality of these is just as good as any other Too Faces shades. They feel almost creamy to touch and deliver incredible pigmentation, blending wonderfully. You also get a nice selection of colours from highlighting shades to all over lid colours, crease and transition shades. If you're on the hunt for a nice completely matte palette then I highly recommend this one. Or if all matte shades aren't your thing, they also have very similar palettes with a few more shimmer shades.
