For me, nowhere quite does a lip combo like Mac. Yes, there are incredible lipsticks and liners out there from dozens of high end and drugstore brands but as my first ever expensive purchase, Mac will always have that special place in my heart. They're the liners I reach for on a daily basis and my lipsticks that see the most use. In fact, whenever I visit a store or counter I can almost guarantee you that the first place I will go is the lipsticks. And I'l leave with 15 different swatches up and down my arms and hands. In this post I've pulled together four of my liners and lipsticks that I think make a perfect pair.
It wasn't until recently that I started using lip liner daily. In fact, I never used to wear a lip liner until I tried East End Snob by Rimmel and was instantly converted. Having already been a huge wearer of Mac lipsticks, I thought I'd take the plunge and invest in some of their liners. Initially worried about the formula (being a pencil) I was really pleasantly surprised at just how soft and creamy these are, without any dragging on the lips. The colour pay off is incredible, they last for hours (even after devouring masses of food) and help prevent any pesky lipstick bleeding. To top it all off, they sharpen really nicely as well! There's nothing worse than spending your hard earned cash on a product that keeps breaking every time you try and sharpen it.
While I realise that some of these are not exact colour matches, I like the versatility of being able to use a slightly different liner to alter the overall colour of your lipstick and for me their primary purpose is to increase the longevity of my lip colour. Plus let's face it, they're not exactly far off.
Currant & Rebel: Ahhh Rebel, the first Mac lipstick I ever purchased. An oldie but a goldie. This is a purple based berry shade in a Satin finish. So the finish itself is a little more hydrating than a matte while still giving a really nice demi-matte finish. I like to pair this with Currant liner, which is a lot darker and more purple in colour. This initially applies a little patchy on me but combined with Rebel they make for the most perfect vampy lip.
Beet & D For Danger: Beet is probably the most versatile of all my lip liners, I've used this with reds, pinks, berries and nudes to crate a huge range of lip colours. This paired with D For Danger make for an absolute killer combination. This also makes a great liner for Rimmel 107.
Redd & Russian Red: Redd liner though a little more orange in tone than the blue toned Russian Red, is just my go to for any red lipstick. From Lady Danger to Relentlessly Red, it just makes for a really great base.
Soar & Mehr: And I couldn't finish this post without mentioning Mehr and Soar. Though I only got this liner for Christmas, I can already see this being a repurchase over and over. It's the perfect Kylie Jenner dusty nude and paired with the mauve Mehr (my favourite Mac lipstick), it's just perfect.

The Mehr swatch has made me feel like I really need to add that one to my collection aha! I use Spice and either Honeylove or Velvet Teddy as my classic go-to, but Subculture is a beautiful liner to match with their nude shades too!

Mehr is my fave MAC Lipstick too...I don't have Soar though. I just find MAC Lip Pencils a little hard to use on my lips.

Mehr is absolutely stunning! I own Russian Red so Redd looks like a new go to for me. I've heard mixed reviews about their lip pencils being a little harsh on people's skin but lovely picks! xx

Love the look of Soar & Mehr together. I want to try them all out, but I think I'm going to have to expand my lip liner collection first!

Gorgeous combinations, love the look of Mehr as I'm a huge fan of Soar. My all time favourite lip combination is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk and NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brule, they are my perfect glossy, pinky nude :)
