Christmas for me really is the most wonderful time of the year. The music, the weather, the general sense of joy that this time of year brings, everything about it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I've always been more of a home bird, I thrive off spending time with my family and loved ones, stuffing our faces with amazing food and sitting in front of the fire watching all the Christmas specials on TV. I found a few of these tags floating around the internet but I much preferred the questions in this one so I thought I'd go ahead and answer them and maybe give you a little more insight into the person behind the blog.
1. What is your favourite Christmas film?
I'd probably have to say Love Actually. It's just a great all rounder, it makes me laugh, it makes me cry, it's wonderful. In fact, I might watch it now. I love Home Alone and The Grinch too.
2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?
I must have had a few in my life but I can't think of one off the top of my head. A quick Google tells me that 2010 was a white Christmas for the UK but my memory is so poor, I honestly don't remember it.
3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Usually I spend the holidays at home through we did spend last Christmas in Florida for the second time which was incredible and I've also been in Spain before over the Holiday season. It's a good time for my parents to get time off work and for us all to go away together, as everyone is normally so busy during the Summer.
4. What is your favourite Christmas song?
I honestly love all the classics that you'd get on a generic Christmas CD (I have Mariah Carey blaring right now) but anything sung by Michael Buble gets the automatic seal of approval from me. His voice is so incredibly soothing.
5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
I've never opened a present on Christmas Eve, the only time I'll be doing something like that is this year as I've bought my sister and myself some matching pyjamas to wear on the day.
6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Rudolph, Dancer, Prancer, Dasher, Blitzen? Erm, no I can't. I'm totally guessing now.
7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
We're spending Christmas at home this year so although Florida was lovely and warm, I'm actually looking forward to sitting around the fire with a tub of Roses, watching all the Christmas TV specials and devouring my weight in pigs in blankets.
8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. We've had the same tree for as long as I can remember.
9. What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?
I love cracking out the tins of Roses and Quality Street. Oh and Terry's Chocolate Orange, I know you can get them all year round but they just remind me of Christmas. Oh and selection boxes, love a good selection box.
10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
When I was younger I think the part of Christmas I most looked forward to was getting presents and I'm not going to lie, I still love receiving gifts but now I've got older I actually really enjoy the giving aspect. I've had so much fun shopping for all my friends and family these last few years. It's a lot more rewarding.
11. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever received?
When I was really young I was given a little crib for my baby born doll (remember those!?) that my Grandma and Granddad had made themselves. It was painted white and upholstered in a baby pink fabric with little floral stickers and rocked from side to side, I loved it.
12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I'd love to visit New York at this time of year, especially for New Years. Something about it just seems like it'd be really magical.
13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
I'm a pro at wrapping boxes, anything slightly more unusual in shape normally ends up looking a mess.
14. Most memorable Holiday moment?
Spending a couple of Christmas's in Florida has to be the most memorable. And I'll never forget sneaking downstairs at four in the morning to find all of the presents off Santa under the tree. I was always amazed to find the fireplace door open and ash scattered along the carpet.
15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?
I think as I got older it just started to click, especially realising that my parents handwriting was exactly the same. I did also get "the talk", haha.
16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
It's normally the same thing every year as I have a tendency to stick to them for a few months and then forget about them completely. Getting healthier, being more organised, the usual.
17. What makes the holidays special for you?
Spending a lot more time with my family. I like to spend a lot of time with them anyway but I think everyone makes a little more of an effort at this time of year.
