Goals For 2016

Now I don't know about you but I always make New Years Resolutions and never seem to stick to them. Maybe it's my lack of will power or maybe it's the whole idea itself. I find that I have a lot more motivation to change or do well if I'm working towards a goal rather than just trying to change something about myself. This year instead of just aiming to "lose weight" in general I set myself goals to achieve, I set myself a goal weight and an exercise schedule and I found that having something to actually work towards really helped with my motivation. So this year instead of making New Year's Resolutions, I'm setting goals. Things to work towards rather than change instantly.

1. Lose another stone: So far this year I managed to lose half of the weight I wanted to lose. So in 2016 I want to work even harder and work out longer in order to shed the other half. My confidence has been shooting up since I lose the first stone and I just know that it will continue to go through the roof once I jump back on the diet and exercise bandwagon.

2. Get a 2:1 or higher at university: I finally graduate next year and it would be dream come true to graduate with a 60 or above. I'm currently pretty much on track for a 2:1 but the aim is really to get a first. I'd feel like all the hard work, late nights and mountains of sketchbook work had finally paid off.

3. Grow my blog and social media: Though it's not about numbers or how many followers I have, it's always nice to know that people follow my blog and are interested in what I'm writing. I'd love to achieve 400 followers on Bloglovin, 1000 on Instagram and 600 on Twitter (though if it doesn't happen, I won't be disappointed, I've already achieved so much more than I ever thought I would). Update: since drafting this at the start of the month, I've surpassed all the goals I had for social media, it's just mindblowing for me. Thanks to everyone who follows me and cares about what I have to say, hopefully it's just onwards and upwards from here!

4. Go on holiday: Does this count as a goal? After being in education for so long and working what feels like nonstop, I'm going to be on the first flight to Tenerife. Even if it means picking up a few more shifts at the pub, I am determined to go on a week long all inclusive holiday to somewhere hot.

 5. Improve my photography: Though I am pretty happy with the photos that go on my blog, I'd love to improve my skills with the camera. At the moment I just use the automatic settings, so over 2016 I'll be looking into learning more about the manual settings on my camera, ISO, shutter speed, etc.

6. Continue to do things that make me happy. Starting this blog was something I'd wanted to do for a long time but something I put off because I was worried about judgement from others or what my friends and family might think but the support I've had has been amazing. I want to carry on making decisions for myself, rather than worrying too much about what others think of them.

7. Give blood. Pretty self explanatory really. I've been meaning to do this for years and never got around to it. I either miss the deadline completely or go and they're too busy to fit me in. This year I need to make sure I register and go along. It really could help save someones life.

What are your goals for 2016?

  1. your goals are such nice ones. i hope your blog will gain a lot more followers because you deserve it. also, i'm sure you'll manage to get as fit and lean as you wish. i hardly do new years resolutions. the only thing i like to focus on is being as kind and happy as i can be. to be the best version of myself.

  7. Great goals. I want to give blood this year too, just waiting to find out if I can! There's a donation centre right next door to where I live so it seems really silly NOT to go and donate!

Good luck with your goals this year!
