Anastasia Liquid Lips | First Impressions

I've never been so excited to hear a van pull up outside in my entire life. In all honesty I didn't think these would be arriving for at least a week but they arrived within 4 days direct from the Anastasia website, so that automatically gets a thumbs up from me. I did have to pay extra for freight and customs which is slightly annoying but I didn't mind this too much considering the exchange rate meant the lipsticks themselves worked out relatively cheap.

 I can't tell you how long I've been admiring pictures and swatches of these liquid lipsticks online ever since they first came out so I'm super excited to test these out properly over the next few weeks. I can't stop looking at them! Trust me, it's taking all the will power I have not to go online and order a whole bunch more. Here I have the shades Pure Hollywood, Heathers and Sarafine. Pure Hollywood is the perfect nude shade, this colour is super popular and I can totally see why. This will be lovely for wearing in the daytime and could transition wonderfully into the night by incorporating a more dramatic eye look. Sarafine is a gorgeous deep red, when I first swatched it there seemed to be almost berry undertones. Perfect for this time of year! And finally Heathers is another dark red shade, this time with more a lot more brown, which I'm sure I'll be wearing all throughout Autumn and Winter. I was a little worried at first that this was going to come out totally brown when I saw the tube but I was pleasantly surprised. I really wanted Craft and Bloodline but sadly they were out of stock, definitely two for the next time payday comes around!

I've read a few reviews of these that said they take a long time to dry which yes to an extent I would agree with, they did take a few minutes on my lips and hand before they dried down to a matte finish but once they did, boy they were not going anywhere. It took a fair bit of elbow grease to get the swatches off my hands, I'll tell you that!

I've currently been wearing Sarafine on my lips for nearly 3 hours now and it still feels very comfortable on the lips. It'll take a couple of weeks road testing these over longer periods of time before I can make a sound judgement on the longevity and how they deal with eating/drinking, but as this is just a first impression, I'm very pleased with them! The colour pay off is incredible, I only needed one swipe for a completely opaque colour on the lips and to top it off the product feels velvety smooth when applied. One thing I will suggest is using some sort of lip balm beforehand, just to help combat any dryness. I just used a little Vaseline to moisturise my lips first. Also using a lip liner will help increase the longevity and prevent the colour bleeding. I'd love to hear from anyone who's used these on how they find them!
