Brablems & Their Solutions With Third Love

Bras. Some of us love them, some of us hate them, some wear them and some don't, some of us can't wait to take them off at the end of the day and some of us prefer to keep them on. But I think one thing we can all agree on is that they can be annoying little buggars sometimes. Whether it's boob spillage, a rogue underwire or loose straps, there's loads of potential brablems we can encounter on our route to having perfectly supported breasts. So I've teamed up with Third Love to talk through some of these potential issues and their solutions. (Can I also just point out how pretty my bra in the above photo is, seriously, dat lace.)

My boob story? I've had big boobs for as long as I can remember. They've fluctuated in size depending on my weight, time of the month, etc but generally they've always been on the large size. I currently sit at a 32G having previously been a 32J before I lost weight. Every bra I owned was from places like Bravissimo or other specialist stores, because as much as I wanted to, I could never fit into anything pretty and delicate from Ann Summers or Victoria Secret. You have no idea how envious I was of friends who could just get a cheap pretty bra from Primark while I was forking out £30 a piece for what felt like a beige tent. Seriously, why can't they make prettier bras for those of us with a bigger chest? Since losing weight I can now fit into Ann Summers bras (only just) and even though I'm so much happier with the choice available, I'm still not without brablems. I've had back straps riding up, spillage, gaping cups, slipping straps, you name it I've probably had it.

I can't stress enough how important I think it is to go and get properly measured. I was terrified when I first went thinking that some strange woman would be fondling my boobs and whipping out the tape measure but I have had nothing but good experiences from both Bravissimo and Ann Summers. Most of the time all they need to do is look at you and they can hazard a pretty solid guess at your bra size, you'll try a couple on and then they can look at how the band and underwire are sitting, what the straps are like and if the cups are big enough. Third Love have created an app to help you find your perfect size and they have a huge directory on shapes and sizes to help you make an informed decision, in case you don't feel comfortable getting measured, you can make an educated and informed decision yourself.
