Soap & Glory Makeup | Review

Though I have a few of their beauty products, when I think of Soap & Glory the first thing that comes to mind isn't necessarily their makeup. The mind tends to jump towards shower gels and body butters before it does pressed powder and eyeliner, despite the fact that the majority that I've tried from them are wonderful for the price. I've gathered up my little collection of products from them to tell you what I would recommend and what I wouldn't buy again.

The first product I tried from the Soap & Glory line was their One Heck Of A Blot pressed powder, closely followed by the Solar Powder. (You can read a bit more about this here). The powder is described as a super translucent, mattifying powder and this stuff seriously works. This is the second pan of this that I've used and I've already bought myself a backup ready for when this one comes to an end. This powder is incredibly soft and works perfectly to keep any problem oily areas that little bit more under control. I like to use this to set my concealer and dust over the areas I get shiny throughout the day to give a nice matte finish without it feeling cakey or overly powdery. The Solar Powder is the perfect bronzer shade for those of us with a paler skin tone, it's definitely on the cooler side of things with two different shades that can be used individually or swirled together as you desire. There's no intense shimmer or orange colour in sight. Finally we have the Glow All Out highlighting powder. This is one of the newest additions to my collection thanks to the good old Boots 3 for 2 offers. Like the One Heck Of A Blot, this is an incredibly soft powder, making it really easy to apply and bendable on the skin. The finish of this light pink powder feels a lot more on the matte side of things than a lot of my other highlighters and in all honesty I don't feel like it does a great deal compared to a lot of the other products I have. This is another product that I think would work really nicely on fairier skin tones for those after a more subtle look.

Another new addition to my collection is the One Heck Of A Blot primer. If you read beauty blogs you'll have heard loads of wonderful things about this product and I completely agree with them. This has a totally different consistency to any other primer I've used, I tend to go for the smoother more silicone feeling primers and this feels a lot more gel like in consistency to me. When applied to the skin it leaves me feeling massively hydrated but still totally smoothed out and ready for my foundation. I've been using this every day since buying it and it does a cracking job of keeping my makeup in place for the entire day. This combined with the powder from the same range are a match made in heaven. I've been following this up with the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation.

The Sexy Mother Pucker was another one of those 3 for 2 purchases. I picked this up because I remember using a similar product of my sisters when I was younger and the effect on the lips was really nice. Lip plumpers like this give you a slight tingling sensation as they work, leaving the lips looking fuller. I can't say I'm massively keen on this though, yes it works in terms of making the lips appear bigger but it feels so thick and sticky on that I have to instantly wipe it off. I'd definitely stay away from this if like me, you're more of a matte finish to your lips kind of person.

Finally we have the Supercat liner. I was never a wearer of liquid liner or a winged eye look until I tried this and I haven't particularly felt the need to try anything else. The felt tip like nib of this is really great for creating either a super thin or thick line, building it up as you please. (The swatches shown above don't really help to demonstrate this, I don't have the steadiest of hands and I'm still getting to grips with liquid liner). It also glides really nicely across the eyelid, leaving behind a super opaque line and although I've had this for at least a year now, it still hasn't dried up at all. I like to use this when I wear just mascara to create a more dramatic eye look or to hide the glue where I've applied false lashes.

Have you tried anything from the Soap & Glory makeup line?

  10. I have the Supercat Eyeliner Pen and I do love it! The bronzer shade looks perfect for my skin tone, I've been looking for one for a while now that's quite light as I have very pale skin!! I've also heard lots of people talk about both the blot powder and primer - I'm definitely going to try out the powder I think. Lovely photo's xo

  12. I swatched the primer in Boots yesterday and I really liked it! I usually only use high end make up but this primer might be an exception, my hand was ultra smooth when I swatched it! I used to use the Supercat liner too and it was great :-)
