It's officially party season and what better time to crack out the super shimmery eyeshadows, glitter, intense highlight and red lips. If you're anything like me, you'll already have your Christmas day makeup planned. (Is it way too early?) But I wanted to put together a few different bits that I think will work across the festive season up until the New Year, including some adorable antlers from Asda. how cute are these? They're a nice festive addition for parties for those of you who don't feel like going the whole hog with a Christmas jumper.
First up for the face, I've picked out Dolce Vita by Nars and Rose Gold by Sleek. Initially I was terrified of Dolce Vita as it's a lot darker than the blushers I would normally reach for but this is so perfect for the Winter season. It's a dark muted pink shade that gives the cheeks that gorgeous flushed look, almost like you just got in from a brisk cold walk. In the same palette you also have Nars Laguna bronzer which I've been loving for giving myself a gorgeous bronze glow. You can read a full post about this palette here. I also picked out Rose Gold by Sleek as although the texture isn't necessarily my favourite (it's a bit chunky feeling) the pigmentation and colour are great. This is meant to be a dupe for Orgasm by Nars, a pink blusher with loads of gold shimmer than gives the face a gorgeous glow. Finally I've pulled out Mary Lou Manizer from The Balm (post here). This champagne highlighter is the most pigmented I have ever used, I can't see myself ever finishing this. Just one tap of the brush gives the cheekbones an intense shimmer without being overly chunky or glittery. Perfect for the party season!
For me, nothing says Christmas and Winter more than a red lip. I've picked out three of my favourites that I've been rocking for the past couple of weeks and will continue to wear right through to January and later. And it wouldn't be a makeup post without a couple of Mac lipsticks, you can read a full post on my collection here. First is Russian Red, a classic. There's not much I can say about this that I haven't already said before, it's the perfect blue toned red that makes the teeth look really white. It's a matte finish but I personally don't find it drying on the lips like some of their other shades. Another red I've picked out is Relentlessly Red. This shade is a lot more drying and drags along the lips when applied as it is part of their retro matte collection but the result of this is a really long lasting lip colour and the dryness is something I am willing to put up with for this gorgeous colour. Some times it looks pink and sometimes it looks more red, it's super pretty. I've also pulled out Big Bang by Rimmel, an intense bright red that I really don't wear enough. I do prefer the matte versions of the Apocalips but the colour of this was too nice to not include.
And for the eyes I've picked out three of the Makeup Geek foiled eyeshadows and one regular (though it feels so soft and buttery that it could almost be a foiled shadow too). The colours I've picked are Magic Act (light gold), Starry Eyed (champagne gold), Grandstand (copper rose gold) and Burlesque (deep berry plum). All metallic, cause if you can't wear shimmery eyeshadows at this time of year, then when can you? You can read more about these here.
