NARS One Shocking Moment Palette | Review

Far be it for me to try and resist a blush palette, especially one from NARS that features four blushers, Laguna bronzer and two contour shades. This latest offering from NARS comes from their Steven Klein collection, a collaboration with the famous photographer that has resulted in a range of beautiful and playful products. The design of these products is a massive selling point to me, the One Shocking Moment is no exception, incorporating incredibly quirky fashion photography on the front, think high end avant garde fashion. It makes a fantastic addition to any dressing table! And as if the outside wasn't enough, the inside is even more spectacular.

Some of you may know that I'm a massive blusher junkie, so out of the entire collection, this was the product that I was lusting after most. I know a lot of people don't like the fact that Laguna bronzer features in just about every NARS palette but as someone who doesn't own it already, I was really happy to find that it was included in this, as well as two contour colours. At £49 I honestly think you get an incredible amount for your money, compared to a standard 4.8g of blush for £23, you get a whopping 29.5g of product for just over double that.  

This whole product feels expensive and quality, it comes in sturdy packaging with a clip closure and enormous mirror. This would be an ideal palette for travelling, though it isn't the lightest, it has everything you need to create a polished makeup look. From left to right and top to bottom we have Paloma contour (both shades), Laguna bronzer and the four blushers which in my opinion are the stars of the whole lot. Robotic, Blasphemy, Luster and Dolce Vita. There's not one product in this palette that I won't use, all of the blushers are stunning and of the exact quality that you would expect from NARS. 

Paloma: Part of their normal range. Paloma features two shades for highlighting and contour both I would say are on the neutral side of things, not too warm or cool toned and to me definitely have more of a matte appearance. I've personally been using the lighter colour to set the concealer under my eyes as I definitely prefer a more shimmery shade to highlight my cheekbones but this really helps to brighten those pesky dark circles. It doesn't show up massively on my pale skin but I imagine this will work much better as a highlight when I have more of a tan. Both of these powders are incredibly soft to touch and blendable. 

Laguna: A cult classic from NARS. This is a warm toned bronzer with a slight gold shimmer, perfect for giving yourself an all over healthy glow. This doesn't work for me at the moment as I personally think it's a little on the dark side but once I'm fake tanned, I know this will be a gorgeous bronzer shade. 

Robotic: A limited edition blush for this product. Probably my least favourite from the palette but still a gorgeous colour. I lean more towards a warm toned blush and this is more on the cool undertones end of the spectrum. It's a light pink with an ever so slight silver shimmer in the pan that I didn't find translated across to the skin. Out of all the blushers this probably has the closest to a matte finish. 

Blasphemy: Another limited edition shade. This is definitely more my kind of pink shade, it's a little warmer than Robotic with a more dusty rose colour, again it seems to have a slight shimmer in the pan that doesn't translate to the skin. This is definitely a really healthy pink colour that will give the cheeks a flushed pink effect.

Luster: Part of their permanent collection. A really warm toned peachy orange blush with gold shimmer. This looks so healthy and glowy on the skin, it almost feels metallic while still looking totally natural. Like all of the blushers this is super soft and blendable with a bit more of a satin finish.

Dolce Vita: Another permanent blush shade. This is perfect for Winter, it's a muted dark pink shade with again an ever so slight shimmer that doesn't show up enormously on the face. I love this with a gold eye look and berry lips for that perfect Autumnal look.
